MARCH MADNESS HAS ARRIVED!

The 22nd Annual Leonard Shearer Youth Basketball Event was a smash hit.  The only two day tournament in the Tampa Area providing a true intramural basketball competition for youth attending special schools.

DAY ONE: THE GAMES, HOSTED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA!

The students compete at the beautiful Bob Martinez Athletic Center at The University of Tampa. 

The qualifications for entry are strict for these students, and the each must work hard all year long to become eligible to compete---attendance and behavior standards are all taken into account to qualify. 

Bob Conigliaro with Caspers Company/ McDonalds Restaurants accepts a custom piece of student artwork.  Caspers has been a title sponsor and integral part of this event for all 22 years.  

In addition to the basketball event, the students also compete in the form of an Art & Essay competition. The students look forward all year long to show off their talents and skills. It is a truly transformational and life-changing event for these kids.

DAY 2: THE CHAMPIONS AWARDS LUNCHEON

The day after the games, students enjoy exclusive fine dining at the historic Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City, where they receive awards for their achievments and hear from celebrity speakers and community leaders.
